This summer, the mothers and daughters of the National Charity League, Inc., San Marino Chapter contributed over 10,000 volunteer hours at 21 local philanthropic agencies.
The local chapter was chartered in 1960 and is part of a national organization committed to community service, leadership development, and cultural experiences for mothers and daughters.
Daughters are known as ‘Ticktockers’ and join at the beginning of their seventh grade year. Over the next six years, they have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities, including scorekeeping for the Senior Olympics, providing tutoring help, working as classroom teaching assistants, baking dog biscuits, and serving meals to families at Union Station and the Pasadena Ronald McDonald House. The chapter’s philanthropy partners include AbilityFirst, the Almansor Center/Institute for the Redesign of Learning, the Armory Center for the Arts, Crowell Public Library, Foothill Family Services, the Huntington Library, Huntington Memorial Hospital, Kidspace, LAC-USC Medical Center, the Pasadena Humane Society, Pasadena Senior Center, San Marino USD, South Pasadena USD, South Pasadena Library and Villa Esperanza.
