More Than 5,800 Hazardous Sidewalks to be Repaired

By Krista Daly

More than 5,800 locations throughout San Marino are deemed hazardous and are eligible for a special treatment that involves concrete cutting.

These sidewalks have vertical lifts between .5 and 2.5 inches, which makes it easier for a person to trip. San Marino City Council voted to award $150,000 to Precision Concrete Cutting for sidewalk maintenance on Oct. 30.

Instead of grinding down the concrete, the sidewalk will be cut into a ramp. This process will save time and money on labor and materials. Sidewalk repair has been focused on sidewalks damaged as a result of street tree root growth at various locations throughout the city. Plus, on frequently traveled paths and reported surety head areas.
