Devon Jack and Ryan Cheng, who last Friday evening graduated from San Marino High School, were for the second consecutive year named tennis All-Americans. Devon and Ryan were recently honored at a banquet held at the Newport Beach Yacht Club.
Each year, the National High School Tennis All-American Foundation honors the top 40 boys and girls players in the country. Both Devon and Ryan were also named All-Americans last year.
“What makes them both so special is their work ethic, how hard they work, how hard they try at everything, not just tennis,” said Melwin Pereira, who coaches both the varsity girls’ and boys’ tennis teams at SMHS. “They were successful in high school. They will be successful in college. Brown and Yale are lucky to have them play tennis for their teams. I am so proud of them and will miss them immensely.”
Devon will play at Brown while Cheng will take the court at Yale.
