The San Marino Garden Club held its monthly meeting at the Crowell Library last week, where members and guests enjoyed a hands-on floral arranging class led by members Debra Spaulding and Shana Bayat.
Spaulding began her floral arranging hobby when she lived in Tokyo, where she completed the first four curricula for the Soget-su School of Ikebana. Now she regularly arranges flowers for her church and has led several classes for the Garden Club and local school fundraisers.
Bayat, a docent at the Huntington Library gardens, is especially well-versed in roses, orchids and designing flower baskets.
