SMHS Upholds Long Tradition of Giving

The Interact Club and ASB are upholding one of San Marino High School’s most cherished traditions that dates back to 1952 by supporting the Santa Teresita Girls’ Orphanage, which is located in Ensenada, Mexico. Each student was requested to bring towels, toiletries and other household items to donate as well as financial contributions. Clothing is not allowed due to border restrictions. There are approximately 35 girls ranging from ages 6 to 15 residing at the orphanage this year.

“The orphanage takes in only girls, since families often abandon them first when there is a scarcity of food,” ASB Advisor Courtney Rushing said. “The orphanage has depended heavily upon us because of our commitment to them. We have been a major donor since San Marino High School began.”

The community is invited to pitch in! Contact Courtney Rushing at crushing@smusd.us.
