SMHS Senior Attends Prestigious Conference

Sherry Ma, a senior at San Marino High School, attended the “lifechanging” Washington Journalism and Media Conference over the summer.

Sherry Ma, a senior at San Marino High School, attended the Washington Journalism and Media Conference at George Mason University as a National Youth Correspondent this past summer.

“We got a chance to tour the nation’s capitol and interact and discuss issues with some of the top voices in media and journalism,” Ma told The Tribune.

Ma, who is one of the editors of San Marino High School’s “Titanium” yearbook, enjoyed a particular interaction with Susan Goldberg, Editor In Chief of National Geographic as well as four-time Pulitzer Prize winner Carol Guzy.

“We were able to tour the National Press Club and spend some time there as well,” she said.

Ma for the past three years worked on the staff of San Marino High School’s Titan Shield where she was a designer.

“It was so amazing to meet other students at the conference who were interested in journalism and communications, Ma said. “I made so many new friends and it was a life-changing experience.”
