The San Marino High School varsity girls’ cross-country team traveled to Riverside for a second consecutive weekend and participated in the CIF Southern Section Division 4 championship race last Saturday.
The Titans recorded 546 points in the team standings, placing them 22nd ahead of Glendora St. Lucy’s and Big Bear. Orange Lutheran won the Division 4 crown with 75 points.
SMHS senior Puja Balaji paced the Titans and finished the race in 19 minutes, 53.7 seconds, placing her 68th, and Peyton Talt was 88th with a time of 20:24.8. Karen Lee posted a time of 21:18.5 and placed 127th, Lily Tong crossed the finish line in 21:45.1, which was good for 141st place, Katie Wong placed 152nd with a time of 22:04.9 and Katelyn Hansa was the final Titan to cross the finish line, posting a time of 24:11.1 and placing 170th.
Correction: Katie Wong was not included in last week’s coverage. The senior captain placed 73rd in the CIF-SS Division 4 prelims with a time of 22 minutes, 25.7 seconds behind Karen Lee, who finished 65th.
