McBryde Named Rotary Student of the Month

LEIGHTON McBRYDE

He is one of those people who seem to be everywhere all at once, and very few, if any, visits to San Marino High School end without a Leighton McBryde sighting.

And for good reason. Hardly a season goes by that the son of Michelle and Mark McBryde isn’t involved in some sort of activity, which is why the senior was recently named as the Rotary Club of San Marino’s ‘Student of the Month’ for November.

“It is really an honor to be chosen and recognized for my hard work at San Marino High School,” McBryde told The Tribune. “I am so happy to have been recognized by my teachers.”

Leighton is a four-year member of the school’s cross country team, having served one year as captain. He is a two-year member of the award-winning Chamber Choir and has for three years earned a part in the all-school musical. He is the recipient of the Rotary Youth Leadership Award and was chosen to be the student representative on San Marino High School’s Western Association of Schools and Colleges accreditation team.

Leighton has a younger brother, Henry, who is a 7th grader at Huntington Middle School and is considering colleges in California and Tennessee, where he would like to study Business Marketing. But before he gets away, there is at least one more opportunity for a “Leighton McBryde sighting:” He recently earned the roles of Mr. Darling and an ensemble pirate in San Marino High School’s production of ‘Peter Pan,’ which hits the Neher Auditorium stage in January.
