Details mattered little to Wilson, who was her typically upbeat self in explaining the happenings of the day.
“It was a little sad that we didn’t have the big ceremony, but it was nice that the day was all about the kids,” she said. “It brought back some of the simplicity and we were able to focus on what really matters. We didn’t have the time to get the Major League Baseball replica uniforms that we typically have, but it was really cool.”
Though the league got off to a late start, Wilson said that Little Leaguers can expect the standard fare of playoff, all-star and tournament competitions after wrapping up the season on May 22.
“The players, coaches and our Little League board members have been incredible,” said Wilson. “This year’s Opening Day was a tribute to their dedication and perseverance.”
