San Marino Has Solid Kick to Cross Country Campaign

“I am most impressed by Peyton and am happy she was named first team all-Rio Hondo League,” said Leung, the seven-year veteran coach of the Titans. “A second-place finish in girls is the best since I have been here. I am just happy we were able to finish as a team.”
Villaluna found a strong kick to lead San Marino to the finish line ahead of fellow Titan classmate Neil Chen, who finished 10th in 17:51. Junior Gavin O’Malley came in 19th at 20:14, with freshman Taylor Tan (22:46, 27th) and sophomore Christopher Jang (27:40, 30th) rounding out the roster.
“I was very happy with the boys,” said Leung, who stated that the third-place finish was the squad’s best in several years. “Thai and Neil ran particularly well.”
Leung and many of his athletes will turn their attention to the track and field season, with opening meets scheduled for April 22 and the season slated to end on May 28.
“I am pleased with the season and am looking forward to track,” Leung said. “It’s much better to have the young people out here rather than at home. It keeps them sane. It’s also a privilege to work with these kids.”
