Kidspace Children’s Museum is offering a flurry of fall programs for families starting Sept. 17.
“We’re excited to finally begin to open our indoor galleries for families,” said Chief Executive Officer Lisa Clements. “We are celebrating with special exhibits and programs that are new to Kidspace, alongside beloved features such as the Ant Tunnel and the Dino Dig area.”
The fun kicks off Friday with the Mighty Build Guild, a lively construction crew of builders, stackers and designers of all ages. Children and their families are invited to create geometric towers, design cardboard critters and play and explore in a “whimsical” cardboard arroyo, which showcases a fantastical cardboard flying machine created by Los Angeles artist, Wayne White.
Children can learn about snakes in the Nature Exchange during a “Sssensational Sssnakes” exhibition, which features hands-on props and interactive experiences to explore how snake jaws are designed to swallow large prey, how rattles work and how snakes use their scutes. An interactive, life-sized snake puppet will be present as well as real snakes for the daily Animal Encounters.
Families can register for a free family program in our Imagination Workshop to build a cardboard snake puppet and explore concepts of anatomy, movement and character design. Then, take the snake puppet home.
Upcoming events will include the Halloween and Winter Frolic, and the launch of Kidspace’s first winter camp. Members get in free every day and enjoy early access and special discounts.
