San Marino High School Recognizes Homecoming Court

San Marino High School celebrated its Homecoming Court at the Coronation Dance and football game earlier this month.

Mayzee Hsu

Mayzee Hsu, Homecoming Queen
San Marino High School senior Mayzee Hsu was crowned Homecoming Queen. Mayzee is active in many clubs, including being president of Astronomy Club, vice president of Lend A Paw, secretary of Animanga Club, and the beloved mascots of the school’s GSA and Symphonica Club. Outside of school, Mayzee has played flute for nearly seven years and enjoys video games, film, music, history, art, writing and travel during their free time. Mayzee is deeply honored to be the 2021 Homecoming Queen, and proud to represent SMHS’s LGBTQ+ community. Mayzee’s parents are Ming and
Michelle Hsu.

Srinivasan Arumugham

Srinivasan Arumugham, Senior Prince
Srinivasan is pursuing a career in engineering but is also an avid swimmer and has participated in the school speech and debate, science and math teams. Srinivasan is also a passionate musician, playing the multiple instruments. As an Eagle Scout in Troop 359, volunteering and public service has played a major part in his life and he hopes to continue giving back to the community. Srinivasan hopes to study computational
biology at MIT after graduating SMHS and plans on designing affordable medication for all.
Srinivasan is the son of Arulmalar and Arumugham Arumugham.

Alyson Garcia

Alyson Garcia, Junior Princess
Alyson Garcia was named
junior princess at San Marino High School’s Coronation Dance. Alyson is a member of the varsity soccer and cross country teams and is also active in San Marino High School’s Hiking Club. Alyson is the daughter of Anthony Garcia and Maria Villamil.

Ryan Singhal

Ryan Singhal, Junior Prince
A member of the varsity football team, Ryan has played football for all three years at San Marino High School. Following his freshman year, he was named player of the year. Early this season, Ryan suffered a knee injury and will not return. He hopes to go to college in the Pacific Northwest where he hopes to play football and reunite with his former coach, Justin Mesa, at Washington State. He has an interest in kinesiology and is working toward his senior season of football. He is the son of Jennifer Singhal.

Kaitlyn An

Kaitlyn An, Sophomore Princess
A member of the San Marino soccer team, Kaitlyn is also active in art at San Marino High School, was a Hapkido black belt and is an avid traveler, having visited 24 different countries. She is a member of National Art Honors Society and is the vice president of the Self Defense and Fitness Club. Kaitlyn has a profound appreciation for the the Downtown L.A. Arts District, New York City, playing the piano, electric bass and drums, as well as Vietnamese coffee. Kaitlyn hopes to go to college on the East Coast after she graduates from San Marino High School and at the present time has an interest in architecture. Kaitlyn is the daughter of Margaret and Arthur An.

Eli Chin

Eli Chin, Sophomore Prince
A member of the junior varsity basketball team, Eli is also active in the the Self Defense and Fitness Club at San Marino High School. Eli’s favorite foods include ramen, poke and steak, and his favorite music genres are R&B and hip-hop. In his free time, he enjoys listening to music and playing music on his guitar. Eli hopes to go to college at a UC and stay close to home after he graduates from San Marino High School and has an interest in becoming a basketball trainer. Eli is the son of Annie and William Chin.

Shanaya Jasim

Shanaya Jasim, Freshman Princess
Shanaya Jasim enjoys a multitude of activities, including playing the harp, rollerblading, playing badminton, drawing, reading and baking. She especially loves Five Nights at Freddy’s, which you would know if you saw her at the Coronation Dance. She also enjoys sleeping in, going out to Lacy Park, and just hanging out with friends. She’d like to thank everyone who voted for her, especially Tammy Shin and Kenzie Chu, who served as her escorts at Homecoming. Shanaya is the daughter of Jasim Uddin and Reshma Chowdhury.

Sam Chou

Sam Chou, Freshman Prince
Though this is Sam’s first year at SMHS, they are involved in many school activities, including Concert Choir, GSA and JTASA. A multi-talented musician, they play the ukulele and piano and are currently learning how to play the guitar. In their spare time, Sam likes playing video games, reading and listening to and playing music. Once Sam graduates, they hope to continue studying music and eventually become a singer-songwriter. They would like to thank their friends, teachers, family, and the entire community for supporting them. Sam’s parents are Kathy Wu and Jack Chou.
