SMHS Color Guard Wins Title

The San Marino High School’s Winter Color Guard team brought home the first-place prize at the WGASC competition at Wilson High School in Hacienda Heights on Sunday, March 19
Their overall points of 74.68 was the highest of all 21 high schools in the Scholastic AAA division. With SMHS Winter Color Guard’s ranking of second overall at the Scholastic AAA level, the WGASC promoted the group to the next level, Scholastic AA.
The group took home first place again at Pacifica High School in Garden Grove in the higher Scholastic AA ranking on Saturday, April 1. They brought home their season-high score of 77.37, triumphing over six other Southern California schools.
“Congratulations to the San Marino Winter guard on your promotion from Scholastic AAA to Scholastic AA. This is very exciting and a well-deserved achievement,” said Joey Leon, color guard head coach.
These wins came on the heels of a strong third-place finish at the WGASC competition at Martin Luther King High School in Riverside on March 4.
