Girl Scouts Pitch in for Coastal Cleanup

San Marino Girl Scouts Troop 6201 took part in the 39th annual California Coastal Cleanup, the state’s largest annual volunteer event on Saturday, Sept. 23.

The seventh graders cleaned up Pasadena’s Arroyo Seco, a historic site that flows into the Pacific Ocean. At the Arroyo site, whose cleanup effort was hosted by Heal the Bay and the Pasadena Audubon Society, the Scouts collected 250 pounds of trash during the three-hour event.

According to Heal the Bay, 5,359 volunteers removed a total of 11,010 pounds of trash and 304 pounds of recycling along 75 miles of beach, river, underwater and trail cleanup sites in Los Angeles County.
