San Marino Police Department Crime Report Jan. 7 – 13

A homeowner reported a burglary in the 1200 block of Encino Drive at 6:20 p.m. after observing three subjects in the rear yard of the property. Upon arrival, officers conducted an exterior search of the home and located a large window leading into the master bedroom of the residence had been smashed. Officers checked the interior of the property, and no suspects were located. Police reports did not state any losses.

Police responded to a public disturbance call in the 2900 block of Huntington Drive. At 2:37 p.m. on Jan. 9, responding officers observed a man hitting the walls of a building with his fists. Officers approached the man and found drugs in his possession. He was cited with drug possession and released.

A vehicle burglary was reported in the 1400 block of San Marino Avenue at 8:03 a.m. on Jan. 11. Tools were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

Police were called to the scene of an attempted carjacking in the 1600 block of West Drive at 9:10 p.m. on Jan 8. The owner of the vehicle told officers that an unknown male suspect pulled on the victim’s vehicle door handle in an attempt to steal the vehicle. The unknown male did not say anything or make any threats toward the victim. No suspects were located due to a time delay in reporting.

The San Marino Police Department had 583 calls for service between Sunday, Jan. 7, and Saturday, Jan. 13. There was one residential burglary during this time frame. There have been two residential burglaries reported so far this year. Information was gathered from a department memorandum summarizing key incidents handled during this period.
