Distinguished Speaker Series Features Liz Cheney

Former U.S. Rep. and Profile in Courage recipient Liz Cheney is coming to Pasadena as part of the Distinguished Speaker Series to discuss the political divide in U.S. politics.

Cheney will appear live at the Ambassador Auditorium on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at 8 p.m. Series tickets can be purchased at speakersla.com.

Through unscripted remarks and conversation, the bestselling author will discuss the state of U.S. democracy and a vision for America’s future.

“We pride ourselves in the fact that what makes our series unique is that instead of the media selecting the sound bites or quotes, our patrons can listen, submit their questions and decide for themselves,” said Kathy Winterhalder, Distinguished Speaker Series co-founder. “Instead of letting the media decide the sound bite, you get to come to your own conclusion. Hear from the person who lived it, not who wrote about it.”

The prolific political leader will bring her insights to four different stages in the Greater Los Angeles area.

After putting her principles over politics, the former rising star in the GOP has found herself at odds with her party for her outspoken criticism of the former president and chairing the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Following her participation in the committee, Cheney was formally censured by the Republican National Committee and lost the 2022 Wyoming Republican primary.

Despite this, Cheney has remained active in politics and released her memoir, “Oath and Honor.” Her message remains clear, defending our democracy is the cause of our lifetime.

The Distinguished Speaker Series of Pasadena is held at the Ambassador Auditorium, 131 S. St. John Ave. Cheney’s program will begin at 8 p.m. It is the third of six talks offered as part of the Distinguished Speaker Series. Cheney will be followed in Pasadena by Dr. Lisa Genova on Feb. 21, Gen. H.R. McMaster on March 25, and conclude with Thomas Friedman on May 6.

The Distinguished Speaker Series, now in its 27th season, is open to the public in subscription packages only. The remaining series packages range from $300 to $440 for all four evenings. Tickets to a single speaker are not available. Subscriptions can be purchased online at speakersla.com or by calling (310) 546-6222. The series is sponsored by Rusnak Autogroup and LAist.
