The California Art Club and The Old Mill are joining forces to present a Market Gathering on Saturday, March 2, with family-friendly activities for aspiring artists who want to learn about the practice of painting outdoors while browsing for surplus art materials at bargain prices.
The free event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and includes a “Paint-Along” in the tranquil garden surrounding The Old Mill, and an open-air market for a variety of art-related materials.
During the “Paint-Along,” attendees can paint alongside dozens of CAC artists who will position their easels throughout the garden to create new works inspired by the picturesque setting. Art-making tables will be set up for children to draw and paint the native flowers and plants that surround the historic landmark. Guests can also ask experts questions about their craft.
The outdoor art market will feature vendors offering new and gently used art supplies, books, catalogs, and other materials at specially reduced prices for this event.
Attendees of the “Market Gathering” will also be offered an exclusive 10% discount on paintings showcased in “Moonlight Serenade,” the exhibition currently on view at the California Art Club Gallery at The Old Mill.
