San Marino Police Department Crime Report Feb. 11 – Feb. 24

Officers responded to the 2800 block of Monterey Road regarding a verbal and physical argument between a man and woman in a domestic relationship at 7:26 a.m. on Feb 20. Both suspects were determined to be aggressors. They were both arrested and booked for domestic violence.

A burglary was reported in the 2200 block of Chaucer Road after witnesses said they heard an alarm at 7:09 p.m. on Feb. 22. The responding officers discovered a smashed window at the rear of the property, with multiple rooms ransacked. No suspects were found on or around the property.

Officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of Mission Street at 5:52 p.m. on Feb. 24 regarding a man who brandished a knife. During the investigation, it was determined that the crime took place in the city of South Pasadena. A suspect, who stole a key card, was followed by a victim into the city and then brandished a knife. The suspect later used the key card to trespass, police said.

SMPD received a battery call regarding a man who witnesses said refused to get off the roof of a residence in the 700 block of La Mirada Avenue at 4:15 p.m. on Feb. 13. Upon further investigation, police determined the suspect on the roof allegedly forced a Spectrum employee off the ladder. The employee did not want to press charges, and the suspect was released.

A traffic stop conducted for a vehicle code violation led to the arrest of a suspect for possession of metal knuckles at 1:59 p.m. on Feb. 12 near Huntington Drive and Garfield Avenue. A records check revealed the driver had an expired driver’s license. During the vehicle search, police found brass knuckles inside the vehicle.

The San Marino Police Department had 1,208 calls for service between Sunday, Feb. 11, and Saturday, Feb. 24. There was one residential burglary reported during the reporting weeks. There have been five residential burglaries reported so far this year. Information was gathered from a department memorandum summarizing key incidents handled during this period.
