Titans Baseball Duo Receives Postseason Honors

On the back of earning the Rio Hondo League Pitcher of the Year honor, Tomás Bilvado has another accolade to add: an all-CIF selection.

Bilvado was named as an all-CIF Division IV first-team selection to cap a successful junior season in which he helped the Titans to an outright Rio Hondo League title.

Teammate and fellow junior J.J. Wilson was also recognized with all-area honors after being selected to the Division IV All Southern Section Second Team.

San Marino beat Citrus Hill 5-0 in the opening round of the CIF Southern Section Division IV playoffs. The Titans’ postseason run was cut short in a 9-6 loss to Oak Hills in the second round.

Bilvado finished the season with a 1.47 earned run average and started 11 games. He posted a 10-2 overall record and 7-1 league mark across 16 appearances. The junior tossed 76 innings, struck out 74, walked 33 and yielded 37 hits and 19 runs.

Wilson, meanwhile, was the team’s leader in batting average at .402 and finished with 16 RBIs, 39 hits and eight doubles. Wilson also helped out on the mound and pitched 49⅔ innings. He struck out 40, walked 22, and yielded 35 hits and 19 runs and finished with an ERA of 2.11.

The Titans secured the Rio Hondo League crown with a 9-3 record and finished 21-8 overall.
