Neighbors on Gainsborough Drive can celebrate a small victory because amidst the numerous residential construction projects happening on their street, one more potential project was denied by the Design Review Committee on June 3.
Several residents on the block spoke out against the project for its massing, set back and style. They described the second story addition as a hat, something plopped onto the existing house.
The proposed plan for 2793 Gainsborough Drive would have added 678 square feet as part of a second story addition, according to Architect Freeman Han, who presented on the project. The setback at maximum would have been 27.5 feet in the front, which was problematic to neighbors and Design Review Committee members.
