Obituary | Lacy Morris Patten

Lacy Morris Patten passed away November 23, 2020 in Santa Cruz, CA, after an 8-year battle with early onset Alzheimer’s Disease (FAD). She was 67. Survived by her husband of 45 years, Thomas W. Patten of Volcano, CA; daughter, Virginia Briggs Patten Petrakis and her spouse, Christopher Jon Petrakis, of Scotts Valley, CA; son, Wesley M. Patten and his spouse, Caitlin Crafts Patten, of Dana Point, CA; grandchildren, Lillian and Olivia Petrakis and Luke and Sean Patten; and by her sister, Marietta (Mitti) Green Morris of Eugene, OR.
Born July 12, 1953 in Tulsa, OK, Lacy grew up in San Marino CA where she met Tom. They dated for 5 years and married June 28, 1975, San Marino CA. After graduating from SMHS, Lacy earned her nursing degree (LVN) at Pasadena City College and worked at Methodist Hospital in Arcadia, CA, and Pacifica Hospital in Huntington Beach, CA. She was recognized by the Saddleback Valley School District as volunteer of the year for her support of the Trabuco Canyon Elementary School, where she made lifetime friends who called themselves the “Ya Ya Sisters.” Lacy also organized youth tennis and swimming in Coto de Caza, where they lived for 27 years before retiring to Volcano, CA.
Lacy helped found and served as President of the Saddleback Valley Chapter of the National Charity League, in which she participated with daughter Virginia for 10 years. Later she was active in the Assistance League of Saddleback Valley. Lacy and Tom were active members of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, CA, where she joined a mission trip to Rwanda.
Lacy’s favorite pastime was reading and playing with her children by the sea where the Pattens had a trailer in the El Morro Village, Laguna Beach, CA. She also loved walking and hiking with Tom and her Golden Retrievers, Maverick and Beau.
