Dr. Edmond Pi Recognized for Commitment to Service

LOS ANGELES COUNTY — At the Board of Supervisors meeting, Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich recognized Dr. Edmond Pi for his 33 years of dedicated service to Los Angeles County.

Dr. Pi began his career in 1980 with the Department of Mental Health after completing his psychiatry residency at Stony Brook University in New York State and his chief residency at the University of Kentucky.  In 1985, Dr. Pi transferred to the Department of Health Services and during the last three decades has held key leadership positions at USC, UCLA, and Charles R. Drew Medical University.

Dr. Pi has served as Chief of Psychiatric Services and Associated Chair for Clinical Affairs at LAC+USC Medical Center and  Executive Vice Chair and Director of Residency training program of the Department of Psychiatry at King Drew Medical Center.  He was also Chief of Acute Psychiatric Services at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.  He has conducted major research projects in the field of clinical psychiatry with more than 150 publications including authorship in psychiatric textbooks, and is a visiting Professor of Psychiatry at Tsinghua University Medical College in Beijing, China.

Dr. Pi is also a member of the President’s Council for the Chinese Garden at the Huntington Library.
