San Marino Councilman Dennis Kneier’s Home Burglarized

By Mitch Lehman

The home of San Marino City Councilman Dennis Kneier was burglarized last Saturday evening between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., while Kneier and his wife, Liz, were attending an event in Arcadia. In a stroke of irony not at all lost on Councilman Kneier, the crime took place less than 24 hours before he attended a meeting extolling the virtues of the San Marino Police Department’s Neighborhood Watch program.

“Yes, I thought of that almost immediately,” Kneier quipped, mentioning the next day’s meeting at the Crowell Public Library that explored solutions to crimes such as the one that had just occurred.

At least one burglar entered Kneier’s home by shattering a large sliding glass door in the rear of their Hampton Road residence. The perpetrators then rummaged through several rooms of the home, scattering belongings and haphazardly discarding unwanted items. Burglars used a pillow case to pilfer jewelry, while leaving computers, artwork and other equipment undisturbed.
