This month’s San Marino City Club meeting will be at The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens, and feature one of the educational institution’s experts as the distinguished speaker.

Dr. James P. Folsom, director of the botanical gardens at TheHuntington, will present “The Natural and Built History of the Huntington” on Oct. 20 at 6:30 p.m. at The Huntington’s recently renovated dining and reception areas.

Folsom said his talk would detail geological, geographical and historical challenges that The Huntington has faced throughout its existence.

“It’s a story of how The Huntington has evolved facing the same issues that our neighbors have,” he said. “They’re challenges that anyone else in San Marino might have.”

There will be a reception before dinner at 5:45 p.m. Thanks to the generosity of The Huntington, City Club members can attend the Dinner Meeting for only $15. It will be payable at the door by check or credit card. The normal price for Huntington guests is $35.

City Club members should RSVP by emailing cityclubrsvp@gmail.com or calling 626-765-4411. Please include the member’s name and the full name of any guest who the members choose to invite.
