SMPD Totals Seven Arrests in Two-Day Span

San Marino police officers had their handcuffs full on Oct. 4 and 5, arresting seven suspects in four unrelated incidents within city limits.
In the early hours of Oct. 4, officers arrested a Pasadena man for a vehicle stolen in Beverly Hills and also arrested two female passengers inside the vehicle on suspicion of attempted auto theft of a San Marino resident’s car.
According to a release from the police department, a resident of the 1300 block of Oxford Road called at 12:53 a.m. on Oct. 4 to report that two unknown females were sitting inside her parked car. When the victim confronted the suspects, they fled on foot from the area and officers were initially unable to find them. An hour later, an officer observed two females matching the suspects’ description get into a vehicle near San Marino High School.
That vehicle had been reported stolen in Beverly Hills and the driver, 19, was arrested. The two females, ages 18 and 17, were arrested for attempted theft of the vehicle on Oxford Road.
Two hours later, SMPD officers arrested a Los Angeles woman on suspicion of driving under the influence near the intersection of Huntington and Mirasol drives after she allegedly collided with a parked car.
Then, at 4:18 on the same morning, officers arrested a man hiding in the bushes of a backyard in the 1300 block of San Gabriel Boulevard after he allegedly crashed his car, left the scene and tried to enter the residence, according to a release.
The traffic accident occurred near the intersection of San Gabriel Boulevard and Lorain Road just after 4 a.m. and officers saw a man walking northbound. When they approached the suspect, a 23-year-old from Arcadia, he fled and attempted to open the back door of a residence, according to police. Officers located the man in the bushes in the backyard and reported that he appeared to be intoxicated. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary, driving under the influence and hit-and-run.
The final arrests occurred the following night on Oct. 5 when officers initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of San Gabriel Boulevard and Longden Road at 10:52 p.m. The driver, a 53-year-old Monrovia man, told police he had a suspended driver’s license, and a subsequent records check revealed the man allegedly possessed a $15,000 warrant out of Pasadena and a $25,000 warrant out of Moreno Valley. The passenger, a 28-year-old man also from Monrovia, was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and several passports, Social Security cards and California identification cards that did not belong to him, police said.
Additionally, SMPD found items believed to have been stolen inside the man’s vehicle and are seeking the public’s help to identify the owners of the property, which include a laptop computer, foreign currency, a brown leather jacket and a purse.
