Children will be able to go sledding, throw snowballs and make snowmen on Jan.30. A petting zoo as well as several vendors selling coffee, kettle corn, snow cones and more will also be at Lacy Park for this event.

“It’s quite a wonderful day for children who haven’t seen snow,” said Recreation Department staff.

Recreation Department staff is hoping for a colder day this year; ideally 50 degrees or so. Snow Day has been a regular part of the department’s activities since 2002, but budget cuts forced them to temporarily stop this event. After five years, the Recreation Department brought it back in 2015.

Last year attracted 1,887 people. However, numbers have typically been higher in the

past.

Pre-sale wristbands are $7 each for ages 2 to adult, and will be available starting Jan. 11 at the Recreation Department (open Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.). Wristbands will be $9 each on the day of the event. Children 1 and under are free. Wristband sales are final.
