SMPD Arrests Man Allegedly Tied to Several Mail Thefts

On Tuesday, March 08, 2016 at approximately 7:53 a.m., a construction worker at a residence on Avondale Road called 9-11 to report an unknown male subject was inside the location.  Officers arrived on scene approximately two minutes later and found an open rear door.  Officers checked the interior of the residence and located a male subject in the upstairs master bedroom.  The subject was taken into custody without incident.

During the initial investigation, it was determined that the suspect, Kevin Hernandez (DOB 03/23/1994) threatened the construction worker with a large knife and another sharp object when confronted.  Hernandez gained access to the residence through a rear window which he forced open.  There were also several other attempts to gain access to the residence.

Hernandez was also found to be possession of several pieces of mail and other possible stolen property.

Hernandez was transported to the Los Angeles County Inmate Reception Center for housing.  His bail was set at $30,000.

Anyone with information about similar incidents should contact the San Marino Police Department.
