SMPD Fills Vacancies; Hires Officers, Dispatcher

Four new employees were added to the San Marino Police Department and they were formally pinned before the City Council.
New to the force are officers Thomas D’Alessandro Jr., Eric De Lira and William Liev, and also dispatcher Ana Alattore-Rivera. Police Chief John Incontro announced the hires at the March 31 City Council meeting, after which each received his or her department pins from family members.
D’Alessandro Jr., who grew up in La Habra, started his law enforcement career with the Irvine Police Department in 2004, graduating from the Rio Hondo Police Academy in 2007. He also has worked for the Beaumont Police Department and the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office and earned a bachelor’s degree in administration of justice from the University of Phoenix in 2011.
De Lira, a Pomona native, earned his bachelor’s degree in applied studies with an exercise science emphasis in 2015 from Azusa Pacific University, where he also was a placekicker for the school’s football team. He previously was a jail operations officer with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and is a graduate of the department’s police academy.
Liev, who grew up in the San Gabriel Valley, is a recent graduate from the Rio Hondo Police Academy, a career track he pursued with influence from a brother who is a police officer at the UC Irvine. He has applied skills from previous work in sales in interacting with his community and can speak Hainanese, a Min Chinese dialect spoken in the Hainan province in China.
Alattore-Rivera was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, and was raised in Boyle Heights. She earned an associate’s degree in administration of justice from Pasadena City College and later received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Cal State Long Beach. She volunteered with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollenbeck Community Police Station before accepting this position.
