Robbers Hold San Marino Man At Gunpoint

Three African-American men held a San Marino resident at gunpoint, demanding his keys, wallet and watch, in front of his house in the 2000 block of Mellville Drive yesterday just after midnight.

The three men used the resident’s keys to enter the home and ordered him to return to his car. From there, the resident called 911 at 12:22 a.m. to report a robbery in progress and that his adult son was asleep in an upstairs bedroom.

San Marino Police officers responded to the home within a minute followed by the San Marino Fire Department, which provided the ladder to conduct a rescue of the adult son from a second-story window. Officers from the Pasadena, South Pasadena, Alhambra, San Gabriel and Monterey Park Police departments assisted on the call.

Once the rescue mission was completed, a search of the interior of the home produced negative results. Officers were unable to locate any of three suspects.

All three suspects were described as approximately 20 years of age, between 5 foot 6 inches and 5 foot 10 inches tall, and wearing a black hoodie. One suspect displayed a black semi-automatic firearm. No further description was provided. SMPD reported that a suspect vehicle was not seen or heard.

Any information regarding this ongoing investigation should be provided to SMPD Detective Garcia at (626) 300-0726.
