Gabriel Had Fentanyl, Heroin, LSD

Law enforcement officials received confirmation this week that former San Marino resident John Gabriel had illegal drugs in his automobile and home, which were found when a search warrant was executed following his arrest on Thursday, September 12.

Among the substances discovered were Ketamine, LSD, Fentanyl, methamphetamine, MDMA—otherwise known as ecstasy or Molly—cocaine, Heroin, and other amphetamines, according to San Marino Police Chief John Incontro, who also noted that more tests were being done on the substances.

Bail has been set at $2.335 million for Gabriel, who remains in custody and faces ten felony charges of making criminal threats, personal use of a firearm, child abuse, possession of an altered firearm and six counts of possession of a controlled substance for sale. The two misdemeanor charges are for exhibiting a firearm and resisting an executive officer.

Gabriel, who was a candidate for a seat on the San Marino school board at the November 2018 election, was arrested in the early morning hours of September 12 on charges of making criminal threats, child endangerment and possessing an unregistered firearm after he returned uninvited to the San Marino home of his estranged wife and threatened her and other family members with a semi-automatic Glock gun.

Gabriel, who resides in San Gabriel, refused to surrender and was eventually subdued by a K-9 unit at approximately 3:00 a.m. He was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

But when police continued investigating the crime scene and received a search warrant for the white SUV that Gabriel drove to his former residence, officers found a large amount of cash and what were eventually identified as the illegal drugs.

At the time of the September 12 incident, Gabriel was out on bail after being arrested the previous week for possession of Fentanyl, PCP and crystal meth.

A six-year veteran of the United States Army, Gabriel was one of seven candidates at the November 2018 San Marino school board election, but was not successful in winning a seat. Gabriel and his ex-wife have three pre-teen children.
