Titans Drop Consecutive Matches

The San Marino High School varsity girls’ volleyball team lost to visiting Taft High of Woodland Hills in four games, 21-25, 26-24, 22-25, 19-25, in a nonleague match on Sept. 7.

Junior Chloe Wang racked up 16 assists, 10 digs, four kills, two blocks and one ace, sophomore Sydney Park collected 16 digs, 12 kills and four aces, and senior Tessa Kackstetter tallied 10 kills, three blocks and three digs. Senior Aubrey Wendling finished with 19 digs and four aces while senior Malia Yu contributed 18 digs, three aces and two kills. Senior Mira Emamaullee produced five assists, three digs and three blocks, while sophomore Maddy Tang recorded three blocks and three digs. Sophomore Daniela Levy had three digs and one ace, senior Katelyn Li registered two kills and one block, and sophomore Jenna Estandarte had one kill.

The Titans previously lost a four-game nonleague match at Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy in La Cañada Flintridge, 12-25, 21-25, 25-13, 18-25.

Wang finished with 10 assists, nine digs, four kills, four blocks and two aces, Park racked up 17 digs, eight kills, one ace and one block, and Yu produced 12 digs and six kills.

Kackstetter recorded eight blocks, six kills and two digs while Emamaullee registered seven digs, one block and one assist. Wendling contributed 10 digs while Levy tallied eight digs, three assists and one ace. Sophomore Lauren De Los Santos had three digs, Tang was credited with one kill, one block and one dig, and Estandarte had one block.

SMHS (7-5 overall) will visit South Pasadena for a Rio Hondo League contest on Sept. 14 at 5:30 p.m. Next week, the Titans will host a pair of league matchups against Monrovia on Sept. 19 and Temple City on Sept. 21.
