The San Marino High School varsity girls’ tennis team opened Rio Hondo League play with a dominant 16-2 victory over host Temple City on Sept. 21.
In singles play, No. 1 Katie Hoang won two sets with scores of 6-1 and 6-0 before alternating with Emily Xue, who contributed a 6-1 win. No. 2 singles Kate Chung also won a pair of sets with scores of 6-1 and 6-0. No. 3 Carina Yang swept her sets with scores of 7-5, 6-0 and 6-0.
On the doubles side, the No. 1 team of Olivia Hsu and Kate Kohn won two sets with identical 6-1 scores. Hsu then partnered with Sarah Tran and the new duo added a 6-3 win. The No. 2 pairing of Audrey Ranabarger and Selene Yung also won two sets with scores of 6-1 and 6-0. The No. 3 tandem of Angela Wang and Mia Lin swept their sides with 6-0, 6-4 and 6-1 victories.
The undefeated Titans (3-0 overall, 1-0 in league) hosted Blair High of Pasadena in a league match on Sept. 28 at 4 p.m. and will host South Pasadena on Oct. 3.
