Cancer Support Community to Throw ‘Barbie Bash’

Cancer Support Community Greater San Gabriel Valley presents its highly anticipated 13th annual Ladies Night Out on Friday, Oct. 6, an evening to celebrate and honor the courageous women in the community who have been impacted by cancer during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

This year’s theme, “Barbie Bash,” will transform the upstairs rotunda of Paseo Colorado into a playful Barbie beach party, followed by a glamorous evening in Noor’s Ella Ballroom.

Ladies Night Out begins at 6 p.m. with writer and game show personality Muffy Marracco serving as emcee. The evening will include a special presentation from Beckie Bonifassi, the woman who fought to have a bald Barbie made available for all while her teenage daughter was suffering with leukemia. Bonifassi was also instrumental in getting the Childhood Cancer STAR (Survivorship, Treatment, Access, Research) Act passed by Congress in 2018.

“Ladies Night Out is one of our most popular events of the year and our second largest annual fundraiser. This event is known for being fun, and with this year’s Barbie theme, it is going to be particularly exciting. We are incredibly grateful to our sponsors, supporters, and committee members, for doing their part to make this a successful fundraiser. Proceeds from the event will help over 1,000 people who walk through our doors each year and make it possible for us to continue to offer our programs completely free of charge so that no one faces cancer alone,” said Patricia Ostiller, CSCSGV’s chief executive officer.

Under the direction of veteran event co-chairs Melissa Alcorn, Marlene Evans and Rebecca Harris, the evening will feature live and super silent auctions, raffle prizes, a fashionista costume contest, games, cocktails, dinner and dancing.

Individual tickets are $200 and include a hosted bar, appetizers, dinner and dancing. For more information, please visit cancersupportsgv.org or call (626) 796-1083. For sponsorship opportunities, please contact Peggy Smith at p.smith@cancersupportsgv.org.
