Partnership for Awareness Hosts ‘Empowered Athletes’ Author

Partnership for Awareness will host Kirsten Jones, a Hall of Fame Division I volleyball player, 14-year Nike executive and author, to speak on how to raise empowered athletes on Wednesday, April 3, at the San Marino Community Center Fireside Room at 6 p.m.

Whether parents are just dipping their toes into Little League or supporting the needs of a high schooler hoping to get into the college of their dreams, they are likely feeling the pressures that come with parenting in an increasingly competitive youth environment.

Jones’ book, “Raising Empowered Athletes: A Youth Sports Parenting Guide for Raising Happy, Brave and Resilient Kids,” shares her insights on raising not only mentally strong athletes, but more importantly extraordinary people.

Jones, who is also a motivational speaker and peak performance coach, will explore various themes, including grit and resilience, the pressure to be perfect, the physical, social and emotional benefits of participating in athletics, and multisport athletes versus single sport specialization.

“Join Kirsten Jones as she shares her wisdom, including the six crucial words every child needs to hear after a game. This event promises to inspire and empower parents to navigate the complexities of youth sports parenting with confidence and clarity,” PfA said in a statement.

The San Marino Community Center Fireside Room is located at 1800 Huntington Drive.
