Lady Titan Golfers Get A Share of RHL Crown

Led by senior Ada Wong, San Marino High School’s girls’ varsity golf team put together an exceptional effort in Tuesday’s Rio Hondo League preliminaries at Alhambra Golf Course.

Wong fired a tournament-low 74, followed by Jacqueline Jefferies (75), Ella Chuang and Janette Fu (76 each), Glenda Chen (81) and senior captain Chloe Lok, who shot an 88.

The Lady Titans were the only team which qualified all six of its starters for Wednesday’s Rio Hondo League finals, which took place on Wednesday at Brookside Golf Course.

The top five players from the finals will qualify for the CIF Individual championships.

“I am very impressed with te way our girls played today,” said head Coach Matt Jiggins. “It was a great effort and I admire the spirit and attitude of the team. They are proof that you can play well and enjoy the game of golf at the same time.”

The Lady Titans split the Rio Hondo League championship on Wednesday, October 10 with a victory over Temple City, avenging an earlier loss to the Lady Rams to gain a share of the crown.

Ella Chuang, pitched in with a 76 as the Lady Titans, led by Coach Matt Jiggins, grabbed a share of the league title with a dual match win over Temple City last Thursday.
