Dr. Choi’s Tips for Healthy Teeth

Dr. Jessica Choi is a board certified pediatric dentist with nearly 10 years of experience and is excited to have opened her practice in San Marino.
As a mother of three preschool-aged children, she understands the importance of establishing an early dental home. Many children who do not eat a lot of sweets and rarely drink juice still end up with cavities. Why? There is a hidden source of sugar in their diets. Any sticky food can get stuck in the grooves of the teeth, making it hard for saliva to wash it away. When food lingers, the risk for developing a cavity increases. Snacking frequently throughout the day gives opportunity for cavities to form. The frequency of sugar exposure is one of the biggest factors for getting cavities.
Choi’s tips:
Brush 2x/day and floss 1x/day. If your child snacks a lot, you can brush after lunch as well.
Choose healthful snacks like fresh fruit and veggies
Snacking throughout the day promotes cavities.
Water after every meal or snack will help wash away the food.

Choi is so excited to help guide her patients on their path to top-notch oral health and can’t wait to meet you.
