Gas Prices in Los Angeles County Rising

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose Tuesday, May 12 to its highest amount since Aug. 23, increasing 1.5 cents to $3.853.

The average price has risen five consecutive days and is 1.8 cents more than one week ago and 70.6 cents higher than one month ago but 37.5 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. The Orange County average price rose today to its highest amount since Aug. 15, increasing 1.3 cents to $3.857. It has risen six consecutive days and is 3.8 cents more than one week ago and 75.2 cents higher than one month ago but 36.1 cents less than one year ago. Experts attribute the higher prices to a reduced supply caused by problems at refineries that cut production.
